Saint Patrick is the patron saint of snakes and Ireland. Not originally Irish (in fact, he was a slave at one time in Ireland), Patrick returned to drive the snakes from Ireland and help spread the word of the Lord among the Counties. His feast day is celebrated by Catholics and others around the world on March 17th each year.
